Apologies - sometimes moving to a new server doesn't go as smoothly as planned! Link fixed now.

I hope you find the tips useful, a quick look at your own website tells me you could probably benefit from some of them.

Ha Ha, that's like reading an autobiography I could've wrote. Thankfully some spouses give you (read: me) a slap and let people do what they are good at.

Hee hee, we love customers, they make us what we are - "miserable uncompromising elitists who hate dealing with clients" Without them we would be missing so much on so many levels!

I myself, am of course a model customer never uttering any of the annoyances we speak of, what else would you expect from an uncompramising elitist?

Oooooh so glad there are clients out there more demanding than me!!! And I'm pretty glad I used Adam in the first place - am not sure he would say the same about me as he has experienced my diva tendencies!!

It is useful to try everything in practice anyway and I like that here it's always possible to find something new. :)

It's a tough one to call! Sometimes I have had a good day in the most un-likeliest of places and then those that have been sold as 'the best show' and 'you cannot fail to do well here' etc etc have been a complete waste of time and energy.

A lot of chatting to other stall holders and a good range of stall holders at that does help, just because one person does well doesn't mean that your particular products will work as well in the same place. I try and chat to people that are selling the opposite to me as well as those that are selling similar products at a similar price.

Mind you, nice loos and friendly folk go a long way to making a show a success in my book too!

So I'm not a lot of help with any answers, still testing the water myself with new ventures this year, at least my lists are getting shorter as I am weeding out those places where I don't do so well! Onwards and upwards as they say........
Good luck with all your decisions.

Yes this isn't just relevant to email. I went for an interview to hear nothing so after two weeks I called, maybe two or three times. Then emailed and eventually (i'm talking a month or so later) I got an email to say I didnt get the job (not the biggest suprise i've ever had!). Email is difficult, it doesn't bother me if someone doesn't reply but if you have met with someone or spoken on the phone it feels a lot more personal. Having said that i'm guilty of not replying . I often tell people ringing with advertising i'll call back and I never do! With this it is often intentional and i just want to get them off the phone. But with other cases more often than not I just run out of time and end up forgetting until well its simply rude to send a reply that late!

Unfortunately this goes way beyond email. It's a general decline in common courtesy.

To give just one example, try applying for a job and see if you get a reply. Even if you're shortlisted, once you're out of the running they don't even bother to tell you. (No I'm not applying for jobs, I just know from what people have told me!)

That would never have happened a few years ago. (God I sound old!)

I think ticket price is a major factor. At country shows, for example, you're talking at least £12 a head for adults and £7 for children. That's over 30 quid spent for a family of four before you've even bought anything. No wonder attendances are down.
