The problem
S. Nicholl Furniture designs and manufactures handcrafted bespoke furniture for homes and workplaces, creating one-of-a-kind pieces from its Hertfordshire workshop. Every commission is individually designed and handcrafted by a skilled team of cabinet makers, with quality and craftsmanship at the heart of the business.
The company needed a new website that reflected the premium nature of its work and showcased the exceptional standard of its craftsmanship. Because every project is unique, the website also needed to place completed commissions front and centre, allowing prospective clients to see the quality, attention to detail and breadth of the team’s work before making an enquiry.
The solution
I designed and developed a bespoke WordPress website that allows the furniture to take centre stage. The design uses clean layouts, generous white space and carefully considered typography, ensuring visitors’ attention remains firmly focused on the photography and craftsmanship rather than unnecessary visual distractions.
With so much emphasis on imagery, performance was a key consideration throughout the build. The galleries were carefully optimised to deliver high-quality photographs with minimal bandwidth, creating a fast, responsive experience that benefits both users and search engine performance.
The result is a website that not only showcases the company’s portfolio beautifully but also reflects the same care, precision and attention to detail that goes into every piece of furniture produced by the workshop.
The result
S. Nicholl Furniture now has a contemporary website that communicates the quality of its craftsmanship from the very first page. The image-led design allows prospective clients to browse completed commissions with ease, while the optimised galleries provide a smooth user experience across desktop, tablet and mobile devices. The website gives the business a professional online presence that reflects the bespoke nature of its work and encourages prospective clients to take the next step.
